Half way there! WOO HOO! Today our family observed valentines day since tomorrow is worship team practice. We gave the girls fondue (chocolate, strawberries, marshmallows…). Watching them run around on a sugar buzz was completely worth the mess they made. Not much TV going on today…I don’t really even crave it to be honest. I spent some time in Mark Chapter 5 this morning…how great is God’s word?…I love it. When I read His word the timing is perfect…I usually read something that I need to hear.

Okay Day 3…

Being away from home (and the evil TV) made my job a bit easier today. I spent some time in a book this morning after my devotion time prior to leaving the house, thus filling the void that would have normally been filled with pointless TV.

I do have a block buster movie that is on my too watch list that is sitting on my counter. I will wait until this weekend before I watch it…even though I want to watch it now!!!

Okay…so far so good. I did watch the weather today…I also spent some time listening to a commentary on Mark Chapter 5. I enjoyed a great day with my family…and of course enjoyed the Campus Life group at Treasure Coast HS.

What the Lord showed me today did not include fireworks but it was practical. He showed me that no matter who I am or how ’spiritual’ I think I am I am never above asking Him for help…or simply communicating with Him. To think that American Idol is staring in 5 minutes…yeah I’m a junkie…but tonight Kelli and I are going to do our devotional early.

I hope you that have joined me in this campaign learned something from God’s word today.

I have decided to embark on a week long expedition…an expedition that includes the complete ignoring of our tv. As crazy as this may seem…I wanted to see if I could cut out the extra time wasting tv out of my life. It’s not like I watch that much tv….

Here are the rules. I am going to abstain from watching ‘filler’ tv…that is tv for that is for pure enjoyment. I do not count the morning weather or the fact that a Disney movie might be playing at times (we have kids) as pointless tv time. My goal is simple…cut the tv and spend time in God’s word.

Day 1:
So far so good…I’ve engaged in a pre valentines day present to my wife…we call it ‘watch the husband paint’ :) . I finished repainting some walls in our house today…I spent some time with my daughters and I did some yard work. Tomorrow I plan to do some more outside stuff with my girls (it’s my day off).

I will post again tomorrow…Good luck to me :)

Do you have control? Can you occupy your time with things (like reading your Bible) other than the TV (games included)? Join me starting February 10th through the 16th for a week of KICKING YOUR TV. In lieu of watching TV let us read the book of GALATIANS (one chapter a day).

Let me know if your in.
